Itinerary

In the morning, Nut Travel will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan and transfer you to the train station for your first-class train journey to Luxor. Upon your arrival in Luxor, your private Egyptologist guide will meet you, and your tour of the ancient city will begin, taking you to the most renowned sites of Luxor's West Bank.

Valley of the Kings: Your first stop will be the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of Egypt’s most famous pharaohs, including Tutankhamun and Ramses the Great, are nestled into the cliffs of the Theban Hills. These underground burial chambers were meticulously designed to protect the royal mummies from tomb robbers and preserve their treasures for the afterlife. As your guide leads you through the valley, you’ll discover the rich history of the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 BC) and hear the fascinating stories of Egypt's ancient rulers.

Hatshepsut Temple: Next, you will visit the stunning Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most powerful and successful female pharaohs. Built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, this three-tiered temple was designed by Hatshepsut’s vizier, Senenmut, and is renowned for its grand architecture, monumental terraces, and intricate reliefs that tell the story of her reign and divine birth. This temple is an extraordinary testament to her legacy as a female ruler in a male-dominated society.

Colossi of Memnon: Continue to the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues that once guarded the entrance to the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. These quartzite statues stand at nearly 20 meters tall and have witnessed thousands of years of history. Despite their age, the statues still exude an aura of power, and their inscriptions on the base provide insights into the ancient Egyptian and Roman periods. You’ll also hear about the famous “singing” phenomenon of the statues, which was attributed to the winds passing through the cracks in the stone.

Lunch Time: After exploring the ancient sites, Nut Travel will take you to a local restaurant in Luxor, where you can enjoy a delicious traditional Egyptian meal. This is a great opportunity to relax and sample some of the local flavors.

After lunch, you will continue your exploration of Luxor's East Bank:

Karnak Temple: Visit the awe-inspiring Karnak Temple, one of Egypt's largest and most impressive religious complexes. The temple was dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, and its construction began over 2,000 years ago. You’ll wander through the Hypostyle Hall, where 134 massive columns rise to the sky, creating an unforgettable sight. As you explore the expansive grounds, your Egyptologist guide will explain the symbolism of the statues, the temple’s history, and the rituals conducted here by the priests of Amun-Ra.

At the end of your day in Luxor, Nut Travel will transfer you back to the train station where you’ll catch your return 1st class train to Aswan. Upon arrival, you will be transferred back to your hotel, completing your enriching and memorable Luxor day tour from Aswan.
